About the Role - Front End Developer

Working alongside the Head of Digital, this is a new role that will require the post holder to help build and shape our digital capabilities and to work collaboratively with marketing, student services and IT colleagues.

Working within the Corporate Marketing team to provide pivotal frontend web, mobile and design support, you'll thrive in an environment that is changing and has big ambitions to transform into a genuine digital-first Higher Education institution. Day-to day you'll write HTML5, CSS, JQuery and JS to develop stunning and responsive content for the web based on usability. You can expect to contribute to the preparation of designs and ensure the user experience is simple and engaging, working from wireframes and storyboards and building prototypes, undertake website maintenance and enhancements. In addition to your understanding of the SDLC, some back-end integration knowledge will be important, as will your experience operating in agile development teams as it is hoped that you'll help educate colleagues in agile practices.

You'll be expected to add ideas to the bigger picture and will be responsible for interpreting and executing designs. In collaboration with marketeers, experienced strategists and developers, you'll implement the purest code and build the best digital services and sites possible, so you'll need to be able to effectively communicate with creative and technical teams equally.

You must be a problem solver and a forward-thinking technologist able to adapt quickly to new experience and digital trends and to promote development best practices. You'll be confident youcan improve existing solutions and services through technology and detailed focus on customer experience.

As a Senior Developer in our Digital Marketing team we'd expect you to be able to demonstrate a strong educational background and broad technical skills to include the following:

- Degree level education
- Significant experience delivering high quality and visually appealing web and mobile applications
- Strong knowledge of CSS, HTML, PHP and JavaScript
- Knowledge of Web Content Management Systems (Sitecore would be advantageous but not essential)
- Knowledge of end to end SDLC, .Net and MySQL
- Ability to combine technical competence with business and commercial awareness
